Pitch a piece
Local Regional Review welcomes pitches that help readers understand how places connect, differ and take shape. Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option so the idea reaches the right desk.
What we welcome
Pitch clear, evergreen explainers about landforms, regional boundaries, routes, settlement patterns or place names. Strong ideas start with a focused question, explain why the answer matters to a general reader, and offer a distinct angle rather than a broad survey of everything about a region.
What makes a good pitch
Include a working title, the central question, the main points you would cover and the material you would rely on. Tell us what readers should understand by the end and where the subject needs careful qualification. We value precise language, useful comparisons and a willingness to distinguish what is known from what is inferred.
Submitting a proposal
Use the Contact page to send your pitch. A proposal is not an accepted commission, and we may ask for clarification or decline ideas that do not fit the publication. Do not send confidential documents or material you do not have permission to share.
Maps are arguments about place
A boundary can clarify one thing and hide another. We look beyond the line to the terrain, routes and relationships that give a region its character.
